MRI Scans May Hold Answers for Locked In Syndrome

Some of you may or may not know about locked in syndrome. It is as it sounds. This rare condition, usually onset after a traumatic brain injury, makes people unable to move their body; in a sense they are ‘locked inside’ their own body.
While there is no cure for locked-in syndrome, researchers are looking to locked in syndrome patients who had an onset from a drowning incident. Possibly finding the cause will help find treatments and perhaps a cure some day in the future. In cases of drowning, this research may help resuscitators to find signs of the syndrome.
Here at MRI Stereo, we thank those who underwent this study. We also think MRI Stereo systems make an excellent addition to any research volunteers to make the MRI experience relaxing.
